Why Modernist Review exists
Modernist Review is a publication founded by David Shusterman for people making thoughtful choices about travel, home and modern living. We are interested in the things that make daily life more enjoyable, and in the practical details that are easy to miss in a product photograph. Our focus is usefulness, design and ownership rather than price as a proxy for quality.
What the labels mean
Our launch edition contains research-based buying guides and editorial checklists. They explain how to evaluate a purchase; they do not claim comparative laboratory testing, hotel stays or product ownership. When an article draws on manufacturer specifications, those sources are linked. A future hands-on review should identify the actual reviewer, testing dates, product version and conditions of use.
How we will evaluate products
A product review should explain who the product suits, what it does well, its limitations and the alternatives worth considering. Service, repair, returns and ongoing costs belong in that assessment. Numerical ratings should appear only when there is a documented method and enough evidence to support them. Our guides make no claim that every product named has been tested.
