Map the actual trip
Start with the places you expect to visit rather than the hotel’s neighborhood description. Check walking routes, arrival arrangements and the time of day you expect to return. A room with a memorable view may be worth a longer journey; for another trip, being able to walk to your main destination will matter more.
Read the room category carefully
Hotel photographs can show multiple room types. Confirm the category you are booking, its bed configuration, accessibility features you need and whether the advertised view applies to that exact room. If a particular detail is essential, obtain confirmation from the property before making a nonrefundable commitment.
Compare the complete booking
Compare the full total, including mandatory charges shown at checkout, cancellation deadlines, payment timing and breakfast or other inclusions. Check the time zone used for cancellation. A cheaper displayed nightly rate is not enough to establish the better offer when the booking conditions differ.
Separate research from a stay review
This is a planning guide, not a report from a hotel visit. When we publish a first-person stay review, it should identify the visit date, room category and any complimentary accommodation or other relevant relationship. A destination photograph or an illustration does not establish that we stayed at the property.
